Last week I posted about my apartment and how it still needs some work in terms of decor. One of the things that I need is something to go above my bed. I’ve seem lots of great ideas (epic headboards, collections of small art work, etc.) but i found something which I decided will be perfect – not because it’s exactly the right size or colour, but because it’s going to be beautiful and well loved. Meet the Constellation quilt by Haptic Lab:
It’s a 36″ x 36″ quilt. I bought the DIY version so that I can choose the right colour for me. At first, I was going to find a lovely very dark blue-black or indigo-black, because that’s what I think about when I think of the sky, but now I’m reconsidering.
I’m very much in love with shot cottons. Unlike regular solid coloured cottons, this fabric is two slightly different colours woven together to create a subtle depth of colour. Haptic Lab sells it in a lovely teal colour:
… which I considered mimicking. But, while looking for good pictures of all the colours of Kaffe Fassett’s shot cottons, I stumbled onto a couple of other colours that I thought would be just as lovely, like these beautiful violets and purples:
… or, maybe one of these gorgeous pinks:
There are so many beautiful colours to choose from:
So, I decided to order some charm packs so that I could see all the colours and pick just the right one. It’s got to work with the rest of the art in my room, the various dark blues on my bed, and the potential yellow of my bed (yes, I’m seriously considering painting my bed a lovely pale mustard yellow).
I can’t wait to make this quilt!
